10 Talents was founded by a Black actor working across film, television, and commercial productions in the UK.

"Throughout years on set, a recurring challenge became impossible to ignore: hair and makeup teams were often not adequately trained to work with Black skin tones or textured hair. The result was not simply aesthetic inconsistency, but real consequences — compromised continuity, avoidable delays, hair damage, and a loss of confidence for performers at moments when focus and precision matter most."

These issues were rarely the result of ill intent. More often, they reflected gaps in training, limited access to skilled specialists, and an industry pipeline that had not kept pace with the diversity now present on screen.

In performance, appearance is not a luxury. It is a critical part of the work. When hair and makeup are executed with expertise, performers are able to step fully into their roles. When they are not, it affects confidence, efficiency, and ultimately the production itself.

10 Talents was established to close that gap — by connecting productions with highly trained, culturally competent hair and makeup artists who meet the demands of modern film and television.
